About nbn® Fibre Connect for Business

Fibre Connect (FTTP upgrade program) is an initiative run by the nbn® and designed to provide businesses with access to faster internet. This initiative is backed by the government which invested over $2 billion as part of their commitment to improving the overall quality of internet for the country.

Eligible businesses with nbn® Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) connection can be upgraded to nbn® Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) at $0 installation cost.

Replace Old Copper Wiring with Fibre Optic Cable

Existing nbn® FTTN and FTTC services utilise part of the traditional copper network to deliver internet. Apart from being less durable, copper wiring limits the internet speed available to your business. The FTTP upgrade program means that the existing copper wiring is replaced with fibre, and that means a faster, more reliable internet connection to your business.

What is Fibre to the Premise (FTTP)?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Fibre Broadband?

Fibre Internet is a connection that delivers data as light signals through an optic fibre cable, which is typically made from glass or plastic.

Unlike copper cables used by ADSL, SHDSL and some NBN connections, fibre optic cables can transmit more data at a faster rate.

It's an ideal solution for businesses that use a large amount of data or require uninterrupted high speed internet.

How Reliable is Business Fibre?

Fibre is regarded as the most reliable means of delivering business broadband as it doesn't use the ageing copper network or is affected by any wireless interference. Tier 1 Fibre Networks deliver high performance connections with 99.95% up-time SLAs. To ensure uninterrupted access to high speed broadband, many businesses use 4G LTE as a backup and fail-over technology.

Is nbn the Same as Fibre?

Standard business nbn® and fibre are two terms often discussed regarding fast and reliable internet connections. Standard business nbn® is offered Australia-wide and uses various technologies, including fibre optics, copper wiring and fixed wireless in their infrastructure. Fibre broadband refers specifically to the use of fibre optic cables, known for their exceptional speed and reliability. While standard business nbn® includes fibre as one of its technologies, it's not guaranteed to be used exclusively in your connection.
